Owen started working with real estate in his teen years, heading a property management team maintaining over 12,000 acres of pristine Florida woodlands. He is a past president of the Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy  Multiple Listing Service and is currently the President of the DGL Board of Realtors.  Owen was voted the Realtor of the year by the Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy Board of Realtors in 1999 and 2002.  He is a the holder of CENTURY 21's Quality Service Award for the last five years. He was selected as the 2008 "Citizen of the Year" by the Greater Chiefland Chamber of Commerce.

Owen is married to Linda Robinson Baynard. They have four children and eight grandchildren. Owen is active in his community, working with the Boy Scouts and the youth of his church.
